J & J Fence, Inc. is a family owned and operated business since 1979, by the Ratliff family. Currently, it is owned and operated by John and Cindy Ratliff. John has been fencing since he was 14 years old. The first company he worked for was Perma Fence in Des Peres, Missouri, while going to high school. After graduation he worked a part-time job.
In 1979, he opened J & J Fence, Inc. During the start of his business he subcontracted jobs from Chesterfield Fence. In the early 1980's, his father began building gates and dog kennels, and his mother handled some of the bookkeeping and office work. In the late 1980's his wife Cindy began making estimates and worked in the office while also working for Meramec Valley School.
In the early years of business he worked out of state for USS Steel, out of St. Louis, installing fence around cell towers. As business began to expand, one of the first home builders he worked for was The Jones Company. Since then we have maintained a rapidly growing rapport with residential and commercial clients (A few for example: Knoebel Construction, Landesign, ICS Construction, Amteco, Meramec Valley School, Rockwood School District).
Throughout the years his daughters, Stephanie and Candace, also worked in the office and his youngest John (Ethan) has been helping install fence and riding with his father since age 9. John (Ethan) has since finished school and earned his associate degree in business and is now full-time at J & J Fence, Inc., learning all aspects of the business.
